In Year 1, the curriculum underscores the significant learning which needs to take place. Teaching and learning opportunities encourage active engagement, motivation and depth of learning.
Quality experiences also help develop the right attributes and capabilities that are so important to our pupils throughout their school life.
Foundations for future success
We build on the enjoyment and enthusiasm for learning fostered in Reception. Our curriculum draws on the best elements of traditional teaching, with a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. It is strongly supported by a broad range of subjects and activities designed to widen horizons and develop children’s imaginations. Subject areas include History, Geography, Science, French, RE, Art, Design and Technology and Computing.
Confidence, personality and core numeracy and literacy skills are fully developed in Year 2, so that they are ready to move into the Prep school.
