The U8s and U9s had a fantastic afternoon @kcswimbledon for their annual Surrey Rugby Festival. The boys played some terrific rugby and scored some amazing tries. Well done to everyone that took part, a fantastic afternoon of sport and team work!

This week in Art Year 1 have been looking at the work of Jill Townsley a British Sculptor. The children then had think about how to connect 3 spoons together using an elastic band before exploring how to make the tripods stand and then ultimately balance together!
They needed teamwork, perseverance and determination!

This morning the pupils in Year 2,3,4,5,6,7&8 all took part in a the ‘Milbourne Lodge World Book Day Quiz’ 
Working in mixed age group teams the boys and girls had to make their way around the school grounds visiting stations manned by the teachers. At each station the teachers had created a bookish task for the children to complete… could they unscramble the anagrams, solve the dingbats and match the teachers to their books before the bell rings! With nine stations to complete it was race against the clock! 
It was a beautiful morning out in the sunshine, well done to all the pupils that took part and thank you to all the teachers for their enthusiasm and creativity at each of the stations! We await the results of the quiz, due to be announced very soon!

Today a group of our Year 7 pupils ventured across to @lancing_college to take part in their French Poetry Competition. Each of the children introduced themselves in French and recited their poem superbly in front of a crowd of parents, participants and judges. 
A big congratulations to all of them and a special mention to Lily who first prize for Year 7!

In class Year 1 have been looking at the work of a famous female artist who creates abstract sculptures using a range of materials such as bronze, wood and stone.
After learning all about this, it was then their turn to create their own. Working in groups they had to build their own people and families using the tyres and blocks.
The children had to work as a team and agree on their designs, learning how to balance the object and rearranging the tyres carefully to achieve their design.
