At Milbourne Lodge we believe that Art & IT are essential elements of a balanced and rounded education. We are committed to helping our girls and boys experience, value and enjoy these lessons as a means of communication and creative expression.
Each year we select a full-school Art & IT theme. Pupils are intrigued to discover the theme which they will then explore on a journey throughout the year. We are always delighted when families support and help to develop our ideas. Projects are incredibly diverse and over many years have included Nature, our 2012 Centenary, ‘Take One Shoe’, Sport and the Six Senses.
Our Project Pages on this website show current work:

In the IT department we teach coding, touch-typing and Microsoft Office. We use PCs and Apple Macs for film, animation and digital photography. In the Art department, there is a strong emphasis on drawing, which forms a foundation for all aspects of painting, printing and sculpture.
By combining our strengths and teaching Art & IT together, we have developed a unique way of inspiring Prep pupils. Our children live in a creative and constantly changing world. We strive to reflect these innovations in our teaching. Although our lessons are taught separately, we work closely together and create joint outcomes.
To showcase pupils work, we enter national competitions and have had considerable success. Milbourne’s Art & IT projects have been exhibited at The Royal College of Art, The National Gallery, The Saatchi Gallery, The Northampton Museum of Shoes, The Natural History Museum, The Houses of Parliament, RHS Wisley, The British Film Institute and Edinburgh Film Festival. We foster close links with our local community.
The best way to experience our combined departments is to visit us during one of our termly Open Days and follow our current year’s progress on our blog.
