Children enjoy sport everyday at Milbourne Lodge

Young people have much to gain from the challenge of sport. As well as improving their physical fitness and self-discipline, they learn how to work in a team and cope graciously with both victory and defeat.

Sport has a long and proud tradition at Milbourne Lodge and a daily games programme is a fundamental part of our school life.

Embracing outdoor adventures and sportsmanship

Every day the children enjoy a genuine hour of physical activity come rain or shine. We want our pupils to be well-rounded and tough, both willing and able to get stuck in. They love getting wet, muddy and really enjoy the outdoor life.

There are a wide range of sports on offer. The boys play Football in the Autumn Term, Rugby in the Spring Term, and Cricket, Swimming, Tennis and Athletics in the Summer Term. Girls play Netball and Hockey during the Autumn and Spring Terms, as well as Cricket, Athletics, Tennis and Swimming throughout the Summer Term. Milbourne also has its own heated open-air swimming pool, which is used throughout the summer and early autumn months. An all-weather surface facilitates sporting activities all year round.

A thriving sports culture

There is a busy timetable of sporting fixtures each term for all abilities, together with participation in County and National Tournaments, as well as inter-school competitions. All pupils learn to swim and Judo, Tennis and Playball are also available as Extra-Curricular sports.

The school is set in over eight and a half acres of grounds, with the added benefit of hundreds of acres of adjoining woodland. During the Autumn and Spring Terms the woods are used for cross-country running.

“For a child who is naturally inquisitive, bright, and team-orientated, there is no better schooling environment. ”

Championing sporting excellence

Milbourne Lodge School is extremely proud of its many sporting successes and has seen several pupils going on to represent the school at both local, county and national level. There is also an abundance of Old Milbournians going onto represent their senior schools at 1st team level, with one or two talented individuals even being accepted into the academies of professional Sporting Clubs.

Although we focus on the individual at Milbourne we also strive to develop all our pupils into team players. Health, stamina and fitness, competition and team spirit are all important throughout life. Therefore a huge focus on games is a real hub of enjoyment amongst Milbourne pupils.

Begin an unforgettable adventure.

Children who join Milbourne Lodge develop their confidence and gain a genuine love for learning, putting them on the path to success.
