Milbourne Choir records ‘WW1 Song’ for BBC Radio Surrey
Milbourne Lodge has been selected by BBC Surrey to help produce a special performance of the World War 1 marching song ‘”Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile“. BBC Surrey visited the school to record the Form 2 performance. A number of different choirs from around the county have been asked to sing on the track and the final version was aired during the BBC Surrey Breakfast programme on Friday 9th November to commemorate the Centenary of Armistice.
Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile is the full name of a World War I marching song, published in 1915 in London. It was written by Welsh songwriter George Henry Powell under the pseudonym of “George Asaf”, and set to music by his brother Felix Powell.
