Ad optima petenda or “to strive for excellence” is our motto. We build on your child’s strengths but also support and help them when they stumble. Milbourne’s very special atmosphere of comradeship and team spirit creates lifelong bonds. Yes, we are traditional but also extremely forward looking. We maintain all our unique traditions but also embrace the best of the new.
It’s our role to develop the very best in every child. We do this by providing many opportunities for individual attention. We use all our resources and ensure that we make the very best out of every opportunity that our special Milbourne Lodge atmosphere generates.
‘Outstanding’ Inspection Report
Our latest Inspection report, published by SIS in June 2017, states that “Milbourne Lodge provides and outstanding education for its pupils. The pupil’s academic attainment is very high and their achievements are exceptional.”
Our broad and balanced curriculum underpins our commitment to high expectations and recognises endeavour. Life at Milbourne Lodge is also filled with enjoyment and fun. Whatever subject or activity is being taught we ensure that we maximise the learning experience for the children. We are committed to our unique balance of physical and academic activities.
Sport is woven into the daily timetable. We believe it encourages both resilience and team spirit alongside overall health and well being of our children. We want each child to develop both stamina, self-confidence and self-belief. This is partly achieved through strong relationships built with their form tutors and mentors. At Milbourne Lodge size really does matter. We are a close-knit community that really does embrace diversity, self-expression and intellectual curiosity.
A word from our Head
As the current Head, whose own children were educated at Milbourne Lodge, I have a dual perspective both as Head and as a parent. My staff bring their creativity, specialism and expertise into the classroom, allowing pupils to see beyond subject boundaries. Yes, we send many of our pupils on to top-flight academic institutions such as Eton, King’s College Wimbledon, Benenden, St. Paul’s, Winchester and Charterhouse, but an education at Milbourne Lodge has greater depth and breadth than even this. We create long and lasting memories and lay strong foundations for the future of all our pupils. Please come and visit us very soon and see why Milbourne Lodge is such a special place.
