Life at Milbourne
Milbourne Lodge is a very busy school which provides endless opportunities and variety.
Every child is encouraged to build on their own particular talents and to discover new ones. Here at Milbourne we believe a happy child is a busy child!
At games time, some pupils play Ambush, a “wide game” using military/espionage tactics.Summer games include Puttocks, a version of continuous cricket with complex and mysterious local rules and traditions. Cross-country runs head for “Black Pond”, the “Ups and Downs” and the “Tree Graveyard”.
Our House System plays an enormously important role in school life. The boys and girls are placed into one of four Houses - Red, Blue, Green, or Amber - which compete fiercely for Plus points in the classroom and for House points on the games field. There is also a House Music competition, House Tennis, Chess and General Knowledge among others, and the winning House receives perhaps the most important cup at the end of the year.
There are regular outings to museums and theatres, and Year 7 pupils go on a Geography Field Trip.
At Milbourne Lodge we pride ourselves on our traditional values, combined with a modern and energetic outlook. We are ambitious for all of our pupils and as a long standing school with a rich heritage, we celebrate the pursuits and qualities which make us ‘uniquely Milbourne’.
