Admissions Procedure
Both boys and girls are accepted by the school. Milbourne Lodge takes up to 200 pupils with the ratio of boys to girls averaging 7:1.
The admissions procedure generally follows the following routine:
- Enquiry from a prospective parent.
- The School Prospectus is sent. This contains the Registration Form.
- Prospective parents visit the school and meet the Head, Mrs Wendy Holland.
- The Registration Form is completed and received by the school along with the Registration Fee of £75.
Pre-Prep Entrance (Reception to Year 2)
- An appointment is made for the child to meet with the Head.
- The child may also spend time at the school joining a class.
Main School Entrance (Year 3 - Year 8)
- All children sit our Admission Test. This is held on a Saturday in the November before the year of joining.
- The Test covers Maths and English and there is also a chat with the Head. Children are asked to bring their current reading book with them.
- If there are spaces, late applicants can be tested on a one to one basis.
- If a child has a learning difficulty, an additional visit is arranged to discuss appropriate strategies with the SENCO.
- If a child is considered suitable, an offer letter is sent confirming the offer of a place and requesting the return of the Acceptance Form and Acceptance Deposit (£500).
- The Acceptance Form and Acceptance Deposit are received and acknowledged.
- New Joiners Information is sent out in the Summer Term before the September start.
Milbourne Lodge is a day school with a considerable reputation as an academic preparatory school. Full details of scholarships and exhibitions won by pupils during the last fifty years will be found on the 'Scholarships' page.
The school day begins at 8.30am and finishes at either 4.20pm, 5.05pm or 6.00pm depending on the Form and Stream in which a pupil is studying. .
