Pupils are normally admitted to Milbourne Lodge between the ages of 7 and 9 years. Admission is preceded by a test in February prior to entry in the September of that year (or earlier to ensure a guaranteed place).

Both boys and girls are accepted by the school. Milbourne Lodge takes up to 200 pupils with the ratio of boys to girls averaging 7:1.

Milbourne Lodge is a day school with a considerable reputation as an academic prep. school. Full details of scholarships and exhibitions won by pupils during the last fifty years will be found on the 'Scholarships' page.

The school day begins at 8.30am and finishes at either 4.20pm, 5.05pm or 6.00pm depending on the Form and Stream in which a pupil is studying. .
